This 1 day workshop, at the Earthlife Centre, Kew works with specific meditation and mindfulness techniques that you may not have tried out before. Learn how to meditate and be mindful

  • - a one-to-one course that is ideal for beginners

    There are a number of advantages to individual learning:

    - faster progress
    - feedback, advice and support suited to an individual
    - exercises tailored to individual needs and lifestyles
    - opportunity to work on specific issues in privacy and confidentiality e.g. insomnia, stress

    COST OF INDIVIDUAL CLASS (75 MINS): 50


    As I recommend 6 classes, in order to become proficient in meditation, I am offering a discount to keep the cost of your sessions affordable.

    BLOCK BOOKING: 6 Meditation sessions for the price of 5: 250. This is payable in advance or 50 at each of the first five sessions with sixth session free.


    I am happy for 2 people to attend these sessions together, if you would prefer to learn with a friend or partner.

  • I also offer sessions for experienced meditators, those who wish to refresh their knowledge, or those who wish to learn new techniques. The cost is 50 per individual class of 75 minutes.

    WORKSHOPS AT EARTHLIFE, KEW


    FINDING CALM IN MINDFULNESS

    This is suitable for all levels, whether you have practised mindfulness and meditation before, or whether you are a beginner.

    Does this describe you some or all of the time? I can't switch off after a busy day; I feel that there is always too much to do and I feel stressed most of the time; I want to find peace but have constant chatter in my head; I feel as though I'm not enjoying life, just coping; I fret about things in the past; I want to feel content and happier; I want to be less worried about the past; I expect too much of myself and beat myself up when I make mistakes.

    Everything that we do, and every emotion that we feel, relates to our well-being and has an impact on our mental health, our physical wellness and our general health. Meditation and mindfulness allows us to make positive choices about our thoughts and our actions, reminding us kindly that we don't have to be thinking and "doing" all the time.

    This 1 day workshop at Earthlife, Kew will allow you to rediscover and nurture that place of calm that is intrinsically within us all. During the day, you will have a chance to practice, and should experience:

  • Mindful meditation
  • Stepping off the treadmill of thought
  • Recognising the self-judgements that subconsciously generate more stress
  • Lowering stress and anxiety levels
  • Getting back in touch with your body; how it responds to thoughts and emotions
  • Developing perspective, compassion and kindness for yourself and others
  • Being more content; learning to cope better with the pressures you experience
  • Experiencing new perspectives that promote peace and calm

    Extended meditation, and the daily practice of mindfulness, provide an oasis of deep calm that can have a lasting impact on one's life.

    All the exercises are very practical and are not linked to any specific philosophy, culture or religion. This workshop is taught in informal, small groups.
    N.B. Please bring a comfortable cushion or pillow. There will be time to break for lunch. Water and hot drinks will be provided.

    MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION

    This 5 hour workshop is a wonderful opportunity to spend an extended time (with breaks!) practising meditation, mindfulness and relaxation exercises. The exercises, when used regularly, can have a significant impact in reducing stress levels, promoting well-being and improving one's emotional health. Better still everything taught on this day can be incorporated into one's everyday life, easily and without spending more money.

    Come and learn these techniques with Karen Young, who has practised and taught meditation for many years and who specialises, through different complementary therapies, in stress management. This workshop is taught in a small, informal group with like-minded people who are happy to share their thoughts and experiences. The exercises are very practical and are not linked to any particular philosophy, culture or religion. They are all useful in helping to create that important oasis of quiet in our hectic lives.

    The Earthlife studio is spacious, comfortable and light-filled. This workshop is a great way to start the positive resolve to find pockets of calm and quality time for oneself.

    MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS - THE NEXT STAGE

    This is the ideal workshop for you, if you have already attended classes or introductions to meditation and practice this skill in your day-to-day life.

    Karen Young will help you move up to the next stage, with extended meditations that include Mindfulness of Breathing exercises; a 30 minute deeply relaxing body scan; longer visualisations that use music and all your senses; mindfulness techniques that allow you to let go of critical, negative and energy-sapping thoughts. Extended meditation provides an oasis of deep calm that can have a lasting impact on one's life.

    LEARN TO BECOME A SPIRITUAL HEALER

    I am happy to train individuals, on a one-to-one basis, to become Spiritual Healers. This is an extensive training programme, involving over 100 hours of learning and practical exercises and can lead to full certification, recognised by a major provider of therapist insurance.

    I have worked as a Spiritual Healer since 1999, after 2 years of training and voluntary work at a healing sanctuary. I have taught extensively in this subject, as well as on meditation, Tarot and other complementary therapies. For more information about healing, please click here

  • LEARN TO READ TAROT

    Tarot is a wonderful tool for self-development and self-understanding. It allows you to gain clarity when confused and to receive insights into situations when having trouble making decisions and seeing the way forward. This can help you make the best possible choices. Tarot is therefore much more than just a "fortune telling" device, instead becoming an important path to self-discovery and personal growth.

    I am happy to train individuals, on a one-to-one basis, to read Tarot. The training will provide teaching in all the essentials such as preparing for a reading, setting the scene, cleansing cards, choosing cards, understanding their symbols (based on the Rider Waite pack), archetypal meaning and relevance in the modern world as well as our personal responses to them. It will include an understanding of the different kinds of spreads. At the end of the training, you should feel confident to carry out readings for yourself, as well as family and friends.
